Backstory: Dusk was raised by his grandfather from his early years, his parents having been killed while he was still very young. Being taken in shortly after the disastrous Battle of Midlothian Ridge, Meteor would train Dusk as a guard as soon as we was able to hold up a knife on his own, and he would serve as an agent of the Equestrian Government from as soon as he was out of grade school. After his final mission in the Badlands, which left him believing that Meteor and the rest of his team had been killed by Changelings, Dusk went solo. He conducted a number of raids into the Griffon Kingdom, rescuing Dart from her captivity. Realizing that the mare needed some stability, he stayed glued to her side for two years. By the time he proposed, they decided to move to a quiet corner of the country, and settled on Capricorn Reef. While he has aided Dart in running her office, when otherwise occupied he has spent much of his free time alone, clearly thinking about the road that he had traveled over the years and what to do next.

Backstory: Dart’s childhood has long been unknown. Her earliest history was uncovered from records Dusk salvaged from the ruined estate of the former Griffon General, De Witt. She had been beaten while under his thumb, leaving scars up and down her back. Her own amnesia likely stems from PTSD, but Dusk has been otherwise unable to determine if that was the case or not. In the years before Dusk proposed (concurrent to her studies to become a therapist, a career that Dart viewed as a logical progression) the pair did discover that she had a younger brother, Cloud Runner, and while they did meet he had his own issues that left the memory of his childhood fuzzy. After moving to Capricorn Reef she set up a small private practice to serve the island.

Backstory: Meteor’s military career readily spreads back over about fourty years, having been recruited into the Guard by Celestia herself in the aftermath of a tragedy that involved Changelings having replaced his family and the staff at the family’s shipping company on the Baltimare docks. Over the following years he would earn much praise for his actions in the war with the Minotaurs, overseeing the response to Nightmare Moon’s return, among other smaller events. The most recent major incident in his life was the Battle of Midlothian Ridge, which left his horn broken and Meteor otherwise angered at the state of the military. He would use his son as a means to that end, training him as a guard from the day he could hold a knife on his own. The two would see a falling out as the result of an incident in the Badlands. He had been captured and replaced by a Changeling. By the time he had escaped and returned to Canterlot some months later, Dusk had gone off on his own and was otherwise untrackable. It would be some years later that he discovered that his grandson had moved to Capricorn Reef, where he would attempt to reconnect with his grandson.
